5 Family-Friendly Floor Plans

Every family's needs are unique and Sterling Homes has worked hard to create a variety of home styles to cater to those differences. Whether you’re looking for an affordable starter home, a roomier model or something in between, we think you’ll agree these models are perfect for family life.

The Delton

The Delton is a townhome, but at 1,600 square feet, you definitely won’t feel like you’re making a big sacrifice. At the rear entry where you’ll park, you’ll be pleased to find a bench right inside the entrance. This is perfect for helping little ones put on their shoes before they go out. The open living area on the first floor feels light and airy, and with both an eating nook and an eating bar at the kitchen island, you’ll feel like you have a lot of space.

Upstairs, each of the three bedrooms has a walk-in closet, and the master bedroom has the ensuite you’ve been dreaming about. An upstairs laundry makes it easy to put things away.

If you need more space, consider finishing the basement, which can provide a fun rec room for the kids or a separate suite for an elderly parent.

With the affordability of this home, combined with all the little luxuries Sterling offers, you’re sure to realize the Delton is perfect for your family.

The Sahara

Duplex homes like the Sahara also come with lower price tags, but they have a bit more privacy than the typical townhome. One of the biggest benefits of the Sahara is the different options you have within the basic floor plan. For instance, Sterling can build the kitchen with a standard U-shaped design or with an island in the centre. Either way, you’ll love the storage space provided by the walk-in corner pantry.

Upstairs, you have choices as well. The Sahara can be a three-bedroom home with a master suite or you can choose to make it a two-bedroom home with both bedrooms having an ensuite. This works well with those one-and-done families, especially as the child starts to hit the teenage years. The upstairs could also be designed with an additional bonus room – ideal for families who were looking for an extra playroom for the kids.

Families who have been looking for a large home that meets all of their needs are flocking to the Thomas. With over 2,500 square feet of living space – and an additional 700 square feet if you choose to finish the basement – you’ll certainly have plenty of space to spread out.

The first floor features a large mudroom with walk-in closet, a walk-through pantry for the kitchen, and a bench in the foyer. It has an open floor plan with kitchen, dining nook, and living room, but also includes a flex room you can use as a home office or playroom.

The second floor also has a large bonus room ideal for family game nights or sleepovers. Parents especially love the ensuite in the master bedroom. It has two sinks, separate shower and bath areas, and a privacy door for the toilet.

Aside from these basics, the Thomas also has several alternative layouts that fit different families. Ask your Area Manager about all of the options.

The Eberle

Families who’ve been looking for the perfect single family home with a lot of curb appeal might enjoy the Eberle. It’s a laned home with the garage at the back, so you’ll be able to spend nights sitting out on your traditional front porch, greeting the neighbours as they pass by.

The home features a mudroom-style entryway at the back of the home, with a bench and large closet for winter jackets and boots. At the front of the home, the foyer also has a large closet for guests’ coats. They’ll love walking into your beautifully open home. It’s perfect for entertaining.

Upstairs, spacious bedrooms with walk-in closets are sure to keep everyone happy. You’ll especially love the built-in shelves in the master bedroom. Who couldn’t use a bit of extra storage?

The Trista

Families dreaming of that beautiful single family home don’t necessarily have to pay premium prices. The Trista model is a bit smaller – 1,500 square feet – but it comes with a price tag in the mid-$400,000s. It has everything you’re looking for at a price you can afford.

The first floor has plenty of space, with a dining bar on the island and a separate dining nook. However, your family will probably also enjoy eating outside on the patio, which is easily accessible from these rooms. A mudroom makes it easy to contain the outside mess, and shelving in the mudroom closet offers easy storage solutions.

The upstairs is functional, with the three bedrooms your family needs. You’ll love the extra-large walk-in closet in the master bedroom. There’s plenty of space for your clothes and more.
